Climate Capital Network™ is managed by a small team composed of two Partners with over 15 years experience in the environmental and financial sectors. They are based in London and Paris and are responsible for the operations of the network. The management team is supported by a team of analysts and an Advisory Board.
Management Team
Michael Mathres, Partner & Co-Founder, London – Michael has 7 years entrepreneurial experience in the environmental sector, working with international investors, governments, companies, media, NGOs, High-Net-Worth-Individuals and celebrities. He has expertise in marketing, PR, market research, fundraising and business development. In the past year he has raised over £10m for various climate-related ventures including Global Cool (celebrity-led campaign: Sienna Miller, Josh Hartnett, KT Tunstall etc...). In 2006, Michael was responsible for Climate Change Now a cross-sector coalition encouraging low-carbon lifestyles supported by UNEP, European Environment Agency, Ben & Jerry's & Aveda, and managed to convince David Cameron and his Conservative Party to switch to renewable electricity. In 2005, he tried to organise a global concert on climate change called the One Earth Concert with the help of Brian Eno. This was too ahead of its time and did not happen, but paved the way for other events such as LiveEarth last year. Prior to that he toured 16 European capitals in a hybrid car, sponsored by Honda, BP, and Hilton, to educate and encourage Europeans to switch to renewable electricity. In 2004, he was the Founder of Susten8, a network of more than 2’000 entrepreneurs and investors in the sustainability sector, dubbed by the Financial Times as the ‘Green First Tuesday’. In 2002, he was the Head of Comms of the corporate think-tank Tomorrow’s Company, responsible for popularising two seminal reports: "21st Century Investment Inquiry" and "Redefining CSR". In 2001, he was a Founding Member of Globalegacy, a pioneering initiative fighting urban poverty. He holds a BA from Hamilton College, NY, USA. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Commerce (RSA) and Unltd* the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs, where he won a Millennium Prize for Social Entrepreneurship in 2004. Michael is a French citizen, with Cambodian and Ukrainian origins and brought up in Switzerland. He is bilingual: French & English.
Alan Ocaña, Partner & Co-Founder, Paris – Alan has been involved with the renewable energy, environmental services and carbon markets for the last 4 years. At Itochu Europe (one of Japan's largest trading conglomerates) he was responsible for advising on strategic investments, joint ventures and the boards of the portfolio companies. Alan was also in charge of corporate venturing where he focused in developing new business in the renewable energy/climate change sector via investments and organic growth. His main role was to source and advice on opportunities where he was involved in transactions in the carbon, biofuels, fuel cells and waste markets. Prior to that, Alan was a manager at Deloitte (London). As part of the strategy team and deal support groups, he advised blue chip companies on strategic and operational issues and was a member of the deal support group where he performed commercial due diligences, market entry strategies and plans for institutional investor looking to invest or restructure companies. Alan has also entrepreneurship and board experience in small business ventures being a founder of Crossbow Capital (a small private equity investment vehicle now closed) and a director of a couple of small companies in the UK and France. He holds an MBA from London Business School (2001) and he is certified by the french enviromental agency to calculate carbon footprints. Alan is fluent in French, English and Spanish.

Peter Fusaro, Chairman, Global Change Associates - Peter C. Fusaro is an environmental finance guru with more than 30 years experience. He is the best selling author of What Went Wrong at Enron and 12 other books on energy and the environmental financial markets. Peter is an energy industry thought-leader noted for his keen insights in emerging energy and environmental financial markets. He has been on the forefront of energy and environmental change focusing on oil, gas, power, coal, emissions, carbon trading and renewable energy markets. Peter is currently advising on carbon trading and finance as well as clean energy technology arena to financial services companies. Peter was selected for Who’s Who in America for 2007, 2008 & 2009. He coined the term “Green Trading” and holds the Wall Street Green Trading Summit with Reuters in New York each spring. He is also a well known expert on Asia Pacific energy and environmental financial markets. He co-founded the Energy Hedge Fund Center LLC in 2004. Peter graduated with an MA in international relations from Tufts University and a BA from Carnegie-Mellon University.
